KDKO Mission Statement
KDKO FM, is a listener-supported radio station that promotes culturally based programming and cultural preservation. We do this by providing relevant language, music, news and public affairs programs. Community integration of this programming provides positive intersects for our area’s culturally diverse community.

The Community Advisory Board: meets the first Thursday of each month from 6:00pm – 7:30pm, location 809 High Street (station building)

Native American Community Board Community Representation Statement KDKO 89.5 FM
The Native American Community Board and its programs are based within the boundaries of the Yankton Sioux Reservation and the greater Charles Mix County. KDKO 89.5 is the only community station in the area and reaches the majority of Charles Mix County. The KDKO 89.5 staff comes from within the community.

KDKO provides needed information such as emergency announcements in times of bad weather such as tornadoes, fires and flood. The station works in collaboration with local schools, organizations, communities and government agencies.

‍ Programs/Initiatives include:

1. Educational Information such as local school events, announcements and notices. It provides cultural preservation programming, celebrating local traditions, language and history.
2. Youth Engagement opportunities for young people to participate in media production and share their perspectives.
3. Public Service Announcement, news, updates on safety, community events, and public health initiatives.

KDKO will continue to expand culturally and locally relevant programing.
